Keynote Speakers

1Prof. Jose Campos e Matos, Universidade do Minho, Portugal

  

Prof. Jose Campos e Matos graduated in civil engineering in 2002, obtained his Master in structures of civil engineering in 2008, and his PhD in civil engineering in 2013, in the field of probabilistic-based safety assessment of existing structures. Being developing his teaching activities, as well as the supervision of MSc and PhD thesis, since 2007, at School of Engineering of University of Minho, he is member of ISISE – Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering, since 2007. His research fields are asset management systems, life-cycle costs (LCC), safety assessment, risk evaluation and sustainability. He is author or co-author of more than 50 publications in international conferences and journals. Participates in several international committees, coordinating several international working groups, he is also coordinating the research project SustIMS – Sustainable Infrastructure Management System (Portugal 2020) and the project SAFEWAY – GIS_Based Infrastructure Management System for Optimized Response to Extreme Events on Terrestrial Transport Networks (Horizonte 2020), as well as the Action COST TU 1406 – Quality specifications for roadway bridges, standardization at a European level (BridgeSpec).

2. Prof. Dr. GUAN Dawei, Hohai University, China

Dr. Guan Dawei obtained his Bachelor degree from Hohai University (China) in 2010 and PhD degree from The University of Auckland (New Zealand) in 2015, respectively. He joined Hohai University in 2015 as a Lecturer and is now a Professor of College of Harbor, Coastal and Offshore Engineering of Hohai University. During his service at Hohai University (7/2016-11/2017), he was employed as a research fellow of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His research areas are sediment transport, scour, and experimental fluids. Since 2015, he has been served as a PI of more than 10 research projects and has been involving in many hydraulic engineering consulting projects, such as River training in the Yangtze River, Bank protection of Caofei channel in Tangshan and Pipeline scour protection of Kidurong 400 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant in Malaysia. He is also serving as a reviewer of many international journals, such as Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, Journal of Hydraulic Research, International Journal of Sediment Research, etc. Dr. Guan has more than 30 archival publications, 20 patents and serves as a Guest Editor of Water Science and Engineering and WATER (MDPI). He has obtained J.C. Stevens Award from the American Society of Civil Engineering in 2022.

3. Prof. Dr. DOSHO Yasuhiro, Meijo University, Japan 

Prof. DOSHO Yasuhiro has been working for Meijo University in Nagoya City, Japan since 2014. He is also a part time lecturer at Graduate School of Science and Engineering in Meiji University, Tokyo, Japan from 2011. Prof. Dosho was a specialist working on structure maintenance and recycled construction material technology for nearly 25 years before started researching in university. Practical knowledge and experience help a lot in his research as well as inspire students and researchers.

Prof. DOSHO Yasuhiro’s research interests include in recycling construction material especially the application of recycled aggregates as well as general purposes admixtures such as fly ash and ground granulated blast-furnace slag fine powder in concrete. With the purposes of assuring safety and quality, reducing environmental impact and, improving cost effectiveness of construction, Prof. Dosho aim to develop and disseminate the application of recycling technology for construction work which creates a sustainable society.

4. Prof. Dr. NGUYEN Hoang Giang, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, Vietnam

Dr. Nguyen Hoang Giang obtained Bachelor at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering - HUCE (Vietnam) in 2003 and PhD at Saitama University (Japan) in 2007. He has been working at HUCE since 2007 and now he is the Vice Rector of HUCE. He is a Member of The State Council for Professorship (Civil and Environment engineering Session) since 2020 and Deputy editor of Journal of Science and Technology in Civil Engineering (STCE). He is author and co-author of more than 30 publications of journals and international conferences. He is also Project director and Principal investigator of the SATREPS project “Establishment of Environmentally Sound Management of Construction and Demolition Waste and Its Wise Utilization for Environmental Pollution Control and for New Recycled Construction Materials”. He is a group leader of the frontier research group “Innovative Solid Waste Solutions – Waso”. He has also been principal investigator for about 10 projects that support technology transfer and policy making for central and regional governments in Vietnam regarding solid waste solutions.  Dr. Giang together with his team are working making the Vietnamese standard and guideline for construction demolition waste in Vietnam.

5. Prof. Dr. Youngsang KIM, Chonnam National University, Korea

Prof. Youngsang KIM graduated in civil engineering from Yonsei University in 1993, obtained his Master in geotechncal engineering in civil engineering from KAIST in 1995, and his PhD in geotechncal engineering in civil engineering from KAIST in 1999. He joined Chonnam National University in 2002 as a full time Lecturer and is now a Professor of department of civil engineering of Chonnam National University. He is a member of KGS(Korea Geotechnical Society) and ISSMGE(International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering). His research fields are developing energy geostructure such as GSHPS(Ground Source Heat Pump System) and Ground coupled energy wall, evaluating scour and erosion problems around geostructure, monitoring of geostructure by Fiber Optic sensor, analyzing soft soil behavior and site investigation result by Artificial Intelligence. He is author or co-author of 90 journal papers including 48 publications in SCI and SICE journals. He is also serving as a reviewer of SCIE international journals, such as Construction and Building Materials, Geomechanics and Engineering, etc. and serves as an Editor in Chief of Internal Journal of Geotechnical Engineering of Springer (SCOPUS) from 2022.
Recently he has been focusing on developing a backfill material using industrial byproduct with high thermal conductivity and new type exchanger for Horizontal Ground Source Heat Pump System.

6. Prof. Tien-Yin CHOU, Feng Chia University, Taiwan

Dr. Tien-Yin Chou (Jimmy Chou) graduated from Ph.D.: Dept. of Resources Development, Michigan State University, and got M.S./B.S. from Dept. of Soil and Water Conservation, Chung-Hsing University. He is a lifetime Professor in the Department of Land Management at Feng Chia University, Taiwan. Currently, Dr. Jimmy Chou is the Dean, of the College of Construction and Development, Feng Chia University. In addition, he is a Director of GIS research Center for over 30 years. Dr. Jimmy Chou is a leader of thousands of projects in GIS, Remote sensing applications. He was a supervisor for over 100 Ph.D. students (including foreign students and Taiwanese students), Guest Editor in a Remote sensing journal, and peer-reviewed over 100 SCI, and SCIE papers, and 10 books in Springer, Taylor, and Francis. At present, Professor Jimmy Chou is in charge of many important positions such as Chair, Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Asia Forum; Secretary-General, Asia-Pacific Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture (APFITA).
